Ingredients
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 Tbsp SACO Cultured Buttermilk Blend
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1¼ cups water
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour one 9-inch baking pan.
  3. In large mixing bowl sift together flour, Buttermilk Blend, sugars, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and beat on low speed 15 seconds.
  5. Beat on medium speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  7. Bake 50 to 65 minutes, or until wooden toothpick tests done.
  8. Cool in pan 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from pan and cool thoroughly.
  10. Wrap in foil.
  11. Store overnight before slicing.

Easy Make Buttermilk Cookies

Serves: 2.5 dozen cookies
 
Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp SACO Cultured Buttermilk Blend
  • 1 cup water
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Cream together shortening and sugar in large bowl.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time and then stir in vanilla.
  5. In medium bowl sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and Saco Cultured Buttermilk Blend.
  6. Stir into cream mixture, alternating dry ingredients and water.
  7. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake 7 - 9 minutes.
  9. Cookies will be very soft.
  10. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes then transfer to wire cooling rack.
  11. Cool completely.

Easy Chocolate Zucchini Snack Cake

Ingredients
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 cups zucchini shredded & unpeeled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup SACO Premium Cocoa
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 Tbsp SACO Cultured Buttermilk Blend
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1½ tsp powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease one 13 x 9 inch baking pan, with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In large mixing bowl combine all ingredients, except for the powdered sugar (reserved for dusting top of cake).
  4. Stir until well-mixed.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  6. Bake 45 minutes, or until wooden pick tests done.
  7. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar.

Easy Cheesy Soup

Ingredients
  • 4 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, shredded
  • 1 cup potatoes, diced
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 can cheddar cheese soup
  • 4 Tbsp SACO Cultured Buttermilk Blend
  • 1½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
  1. In large saucepan, mix first seven ingredients and cook 20 minutes.
  2. Add soups, Buttermilk Blend, and cheddar cheese.
  3. Heat thoroughly and serve.
  4. Garnish with grated cheese, green onions and croutons.
  5. Serve with crackers or toasted French bread.

Ingredients
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 16 oz chocolate syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp SACO Cultured Buttermilk Blend
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 6 small chocolate bars
Instructions
  1. Cake
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl cream butter and sugar.
  4. Add the eggs; one at a time, chocolate syrup and water.
  5. Mix well.
  6. In a separate bowl combine flour, Saco Cultured Buttermilk Blend, salt and soda.
  7. Combine dry ingredients with the creamed mixture.
  8. Melt the small chocolate bars and add to mixture.
  9. Bake in a 13 x 9 inch pan for 45-60 minutes.
  10. Icing
  11. When the cake is removed from the oven place small cream-d-menthe candy bars all over the top, like you are tiling a floor.
  12. As they begin to melt, swirl with a knife.

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 stick margarine, melted
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • Filling
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 6 Tbsp SACO Premium Cocoa
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • Topping
  • 1 pkg vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 pkg chocolate instant pudding
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup SACO Chocolate CHUNKS, chopped
Instructions
  1. Crust
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  3. Combine flour, melted butter and walnuts.
  4. Pat firmly into a 9 inch pie plate.
  5. Bake for 8 minutes.
  6. Filling
  7. Blend cream cheese and Saco Premium Baking Cocoa thoroughly.
  8. Add powdered sugar and whipped topping.
  9. Spread on cooled pie shell.
  10. Topping (Mix both packages of pudding together; add milk.
  11. Beat until it is mixed well.
  12. Spread over the top of first layer.
  13. Decorate with whipped topping.
  14. Sprinkle top of pie with chocolate curls or shavings.

  • 1 8oz pkg chocolate or creamy white Dolci frutta cream cheese date nut bread maraschino cherries mandarin orange segments fresh raspberries or cranberries ground pecans
Instructions
  1. Tuscan Tutti-Frutti Plate Spear bite-sized chunks of chilled cream cheese, cubes of date nut bread, rum balls, well-blotted maraschino cherries, well-blotted mandarin orange segments, and fresh cranberries or raspberries with frilled toothpicks.
  2. Dip halfway into melted Dolci frutta then roll half in ground pecans for a tempting tray of elegant mini-treats.
  3. Cool on waxed paper.
  4. Teen’s Tutti-Frutti Plate Similar to above, but delete rum balls and raspberries, and add your choice of gum drops, mini marshmallows, caramel cubes, and chilled peanut butter dobs.
  5. Amorini For a new warm-weather treat, present a plate of lovable little mini fruit kabobs.
  6. Spear favorite berries, dates, mini marshmallows, and other small fruits on tiny cocktail swords or oversized frilled toothpicks.

  • 1 8oz pkg chocolate or creamy white Dolci frutta
Instructions
  1. Peanut Butter Cups Coat the inside of small paper-foil candy cups with melted Dolci frutta and allow to cool.
  2. Add scant teaspoonfuls of peanut butter and top with more melted Dolci frutta.
  3. Let cool again until set.
  4. Peel away paper.
  5. Try using a variety of favorite jams and jellies in place of peanut butter.
  6. Quick ‘Chocolat’ Croissants Cut a slit through the inside curve of a frozen croissant.
  7. Slip a few Dolci frutta wafers inside before heating as directed on package for quick Pain au Chocolat.

  • ½ lb seedless green grapes
  • 2 navel oranges, unpeeled
  • 2 apples
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries with stems
  • 2 bananas
  • 4 Tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ frozen pound cake or half package of shortcakes
  • ½ cup nuts, chopped finely
  • ½ cup shredded coconut assorted pecans, walnut halves, cashews (optional) assorted lemon or mint leaves for garnishing (optional)

Ingredients
  • 1 8oz pkg chocolate or creamy white Dolci frutta nuts, crunchy cereal, trail mix or be creative
Instructions
  1. Easy Candy Clusters Simply mix leftover melted Dolci frutta with your choice of nuts, crunchy cereals, diced dried fruits, raisins or trail mix.
  2. Drop teaspoonful onto waxed paper lined cookie sheet.
  3. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, or until hardened.
  4. Better Nut Barks Stir whole or chopped almonds (or nuts of your choice) into melted Dolci frutta. Spread to about ½” thickness on waxed paper.
  5. Cool until hard.
  6. Break into pieces for serving. (Try coconut, crispy rice cereal, chow mein noodles, granola or crushed butter brickle for other barks worth biting!)
  7. Nutty Berries Dip berries in Dolci frutta, roll in ground pecans and set aside to cool as directed.
