Brown Cow Molasses Cutouts

Serves: 2 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup shortening
- 1¼ cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp water
- 2 Tbsp molasses
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- 1 Tbsp SACO Cultured Buttermilk Blend
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground ginger
Instructions
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Beat in water and molasses.
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
- Chill for several hours.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- On lightly floured surface, roll dough to ⅛ inch thickness.
- Cut with cookie cutter dipped in flour.
- Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
- Cool on wire racks.
